How HC-SR04 Works
The HC-SR04 operates by transmitting an ultrasonic pulse through the transmitter. When the sound wave hits an object, it is reflected back toward the receiver. The microcontroller measures the time taken for the echo to return and calculates the distance to the object.
The module provides two digital pins for operation:
- TRIG: Used to initiate the ultrasonic measurement.
- ECHO: Outputs a pulse whose duration corresponds to the measured distance.
Compatibility
The HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor is commonly used with:
- Arduino Uno
- Arduino Nano
- Arduino Mega
- ESP32
- ESP8266
- Raspberry Pi
- STM32
- Other compatible microcontrollers and development boards
